What the shadow is
Some parts of you are easy to share. Others learned to wait outside.
Your kindness, your humour, your ability to help. Those come forward easily. Anger, envy, need and the wish to rest are harder to welcome. So, sometimes, are the qualities you value. Confidence can feel exposed. Joy can feel unfamiliar.
In Jungian thought, the shadow is what sits outside your conscious view, or does not fit the person you believe you should be. This book uses that idea as a lens, not a verdict. A strong reaction is information. It does not prove anything about you.
Writing helps for a plain reason. Putting a feeling into words gives the thinking brain something to hold, and naming a feeling tends to lower its intensity. Thirty short entries give you room to notice a pattern while it is happening, and to choose what comes next.
You might be here if
- You react harder than the moment asks, and only make sense of it later.
- Certain people get under your skin and you cannot say why.
- You are generous with everyone else and unforgiving with yourself.
- You have thought a lot about your patterns and want somewhere to put them.
This is not a search for what is wrong with you. It is room to notice and choose, with more kindness than you may have been shown at the time.
Inside
- Thirty entries, each with a question, a short prompt and two open pages
- The same three questions to open and close every entry
- A pause and review after days 7, 14, 21 and 30
- Skip, slow down or take longer than thirty days. The pace is yours
- 144-page paperback, 6 x 9 in

Who wrote it
Leah Wilson is a PACFA-registered counsellor and ICF-credentialed coach in Carlton, Melbourne. The questions are the kind she asks in session, set out so you can sit with them in your own time. More about Leah.
Going further
The book is the daily practice. The workbooks go deeper into one pattern at a time. The Conditioning Map traces the rules you were given. The Pain-Body Ledger works with the charge that fires before you think.
When it brings things up
Shadow work stirs things. The book says so plainly, and shows you how to pause and come back to the room. It supports reflection and does not replace counselling, psychotherapy or medical care. If what comes up is more than you want to hold alone, bring the pages to a session. Sessions are here.
Begin with day one.
