Why Do I Keep Getting in My Own Way?

A practical workbook for self-sabotage, procrastination and the space between wanting and doing

What it is for

You know what you want to change. You have thought about it, talked about it, perhaps made a plan. Then the moment arrives, and you delay. Before accepting the label, take a closer look: the step may be unclear, you may be exhausted, or you may be holding two needs at once.

Inside

  • One real moment between intention and action, slowed down
  • What kind of barrier, and what change might cost
  • Let both sides speak
  • An experiment, not a test of your worth
  • A fourteen-day practice plan
  • A worked example on every exercise

You might be here if

  • You know what you want to change, and when the moment arrives you delay.
  • You find another task, decide you need more information, or promise to start when things settle.
  • You have started calling it self-sabotage.
  • You want to understand the pattern well enough to make a deliberate choice.

The worked example

Maya, 37, has wanted to retrain for three years. She has the course bookmarked. On Tuesday she opened the website after a long shift, read the entry requirements, thought I should already understand this, closed the laptop and cleaned the kitchen. The kitchen is spotless. The course provider has still not heard from her.
Maya is a composite, not a real client. Their answers run through every exercise, so you see each one filled in before you fill in your own.

From the pages

  • When I get close to acting, I tend to:

  • What I usually tell myself afterwards is:

  • What does each position care about? Where do they agree? What does each one overlook?

  • Am I using reflection to delay a safe test?

How it works

Payment is handled by Gumroad. The PDF arrives by email straight after checkout and stays in your Gumroad library. Open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader (free), Apple Preview or the Files app on iPhone and iPad; your answers save inside the file.

A support structure, not a replacement

This workbook offers education and guided reflection for adults. It does not diagnose a condition or replace counselling, psychological treatment or medical care. If anything it raises is more than you can hold alone, bring the pages to a counsellor or therapist. Sessions are here.

Refunds

Because the file is delivered instantly, purchases cannot be returned or exchanged. If a file will not open or the fields will not fill, email coach@stabilisecoaching.com and it will be sorted, usually the same day.
